Farms originated in Miami, Florida
in 1986. It was at this time and during the
late 1970’s that warmbloods became the
preferred equine mounts of experienced riders
for hunting, jumping and the dressage disciplines.
We purchased our first two Trakehners from Manfred
Haertel a breeder in Germany. Senator was a
17’1 hand chestnut Trakehner gelding (out
of Index/Pregel) who had incredible scope and
accuracy for jumping. With his sure footedness
I knew I would always have a terrific ride.
At one point in Senator’s career we consulted
Margie Goldstein-Engel as to whether Senator
might be a horse Margie thought she would be
interested to campaign on the jumping circuit.
Margie asked me to get him fit throughout the
summer and she would take him on the circuit
in the fall. Senator’s half brother, Santos,
was a 15’3 hand grey Trakehner gelding
also out of the Index/Pregel lineage. Santos
went on to succeed in dressage and to help me
teach many riding students the art of dressage.
Kosake and Katalina were the next two Trakehners
to come from Germany and the Haertel breeding
farm. They say you have one great mount in a
life time and Kosake is my one great mount.
He is a registered American Trakehner and Elite
American Warmblood stallion who excelled in
dressage. He was third in the Region Three Dressage
Championships and Dressage Grand Champion in
Miami Dade Dressage. At 22 years old Kosake
accompanies me in the Madison County Mounted
Patrol, Madison County Trail Riders and spends
time in the breeding shed during breeding season.
On August 22, 1992, Hurricane Andrew came barreling
through the Florida Redlands and demolished
the original Joint Venture Farm. After Hurricane
Andrew, Miami and the Redlands never seemed
the same to us so we decided to move to North
Florida. We came across our wonderful farm of
110 rolling acres nestled in the heart of North
Florida on State Road 53 just outside of Madison
County in Cherry Lake. Joint Venture Farm has
an indoor arena with 30 stalls and a farm house
that was falling down. We decided to repair
the farm house and make it our home since it
was part of Madison County’s heritage.
We have been blessed with several foals from
Kosake and his sister Katalina(Kastella). Kailem
by Advocate *Ps* out of Katalina(Kastella),
Callie by Kosake out of Candy Coated by Donaushimmer
and Sedona Breeze by Kosake out of Scarlett
Breeze an ATA approved racing Thoroughbred mare.
We recently acquired Apache*Pb* the approved
American and Canadian Trakehner stallion. Apache*Pb*
is by Merkur *E* by Schwalbenflug out of Marchenblute
by Maigraf xx. Apache’s dam was Alouette
*E* by Tannenberg *E*, out of the immortal Abiza
*E* who produced the famous Olympic Trakehner
stallion Abdullah *PG*E*. Apache*Pb* is a dream
come true for Joint Venture Farms. Apache*Pb*
was an alternate for the Canadian Pan American
and Olympic team and Quebec’s Dressage
Horse-Of-The-Year in 2000. His wonderful personality
and magnificent gaits are imprinted in his foals.
Joint Venture Farms
future endeavor is to continue breeding these
splendid, majestic and stately horses called
